We celebrate Boston Terriers EVERYDAY, am I right?!?!?!
But, in 2018 we decided to establish a National Day that incorporated a birthday of someone who was a contributing factor to the Boston Terrier breed. So, when we submitted a date to the National Day Calendar we did not take the responsibility lightly.
So, why did we pick March 16th?
A common Google search will tell you that the breed was established generally around 1870. That's said, you will also likely find two names associated...Robert Hooper, who made a very important documented purchase. BUT, a very prominent breeder was none other than Edward Burnett of Boston, Massachusetts.
Many other details are associated with Edward Burnett, but, ultimately Mr. Burnett was among the prominent breeders who are considered the originators of the Boston Terrier breed.

That said, we decided that the birthday of Edward Burnett, which is March 16th, should be celebrated as National Boston Terrier Day.
Live in North Texas?
We invite you to join us at our fundraiser for Boston Terrier Rescue of North Texas. Please note, National Boston Terrier Day is Monday, March 16th. But, since it falls on a Monday in 2020 we are celebrating on Sunday, March 15th.
